Located in the heart of Walsall, this award winning gallery opened in February 2000 with a permanent display, the Garman Ryan Collection, donated to the people of Walsall by Lady Kathleen Garman, widow of sculptor Sir Jacob Epstein, in 1973.
The temporary exhibition spaces are dedicated to a changing programme of exhibitions. The gallery also hosts free talks, events, workshops and activities for all the family.
Admission to the gallery is free.

The Gallery shop offers a wide range of products including Exhibition Catalogues, Garman Ryan Catalogue, Full back catalogue of exhibition publications and Postcards.

Can I take my camera…?
The New Art Gallery Walsall permits photography in the gallery spaces for special events relating to The Big Picture. Visitors are permitted to take photographs that are not for reproduction or of individual artworks. The conditions apply for The Big Party and the Celebrity weekend only. Normal policy applies for general visits, by permission only.
How do I get there…?
From M6 Junction 10
Follow 454 (Wolverhampton Road) heading towards Walsall town centre.
For short stay car park turn right to follow the brown ‘New Art Gallery’ sign to Crown Wharf and retail park. You will see The New Art Gallery in front of you.
For the long stay car park turn left to follow the brown ‘The New Art Gallery/Leather Museum’ signs straight across traffic lights and round the one way system to the Long Stay Day St Car Park signs. Walk to the town centre from there.
From M6 Junction 7
Follow A34 to Walsall for two miles.
Turn right at the first roundabout following the brown ‘The New Art Gallery/Leather Museum’ signs around the ring road to long stay parking on right Day Street Long Stay Car Park. Walk to town centre from here.
For Short Stay parking continue past the Long Stay Car Park turning right following the M6, M5 signs. Straight across the next traffic lights following the M6, M5 signs. Then turn left to follow the brown ‘The New Art Gallery’ sign to Crown Wharf and Retail Park. You will see The New Art Gallery in front of you.
From M6 Junction 9
Follow A461 to Walsall.
Follow A4148 at first traffic light to Ring Rd following the brown ‘The New Art Gallery/Leather Museum’ signs around the Ring Road to long stay parking on right Day Street Long Stay Car Park. Walk to Town Centre from here.
For Short Stay parking continue past the Long Stay Car Park turning right following the M6, M5 signs. Straight across the next traffic lights following the M6 M5 signs. From Lichfield
Follow the A461 from Lichfield to Walsall.
From the large Walsall roundabout turn right following the brown ‘The New Art Gallery/Leather Museum’ signs around the ring road to Long Stay parking on the right, Day Street Long Stay Car Park. Walk to town centre from here.
For Short Stay parking continue past the Long Stay Car Park turning right following the M6, M5 signs. Straight across the next traffic lights following the M6, M5 signs. Then turn left to follow the brown ‘The New Art Gallery’ sign to Crown Wharf and Retail Park. You will see The New Art Gallery in front of you.
From M6 Toll Junction T7
Follow the A34 through Bloxwich to Walsall town centre traffic lights.
For Long Stay Car Park turn left to follow ‘The New Art Gallery/Leather Museum’ signs around the one way system to Day Street Long Stay parking on right. Walk to town centre from there.
For short Stay Car Parking turn right at town centre traffic lights following the brown sign to ‘The New Art Gallery’ At the next traffic lights turn left following the brown ‘The New Art Gallery’ sign to Crown Wharf and Retail Park on your left. You will see The New Art Gallery in front of you.
By Train

By Bus
The New Art Gallery Walsall is only a few minutes walk from Walsall’s New Bus Station, which is in St Paul’s Street. Centro Hotline: 0121 2002700
The Short Stay car park, Crown Wharf and Retail Park has 4 hrs maximum stay and is 100 metres from The New Art Gallery Walsall.
The Long Stay car park, Day Street Car Park has unlimited time and is 500 metres from The New Art Gallery.
Most of the other Walsall town centre car parks, both long and short stay, are no more than 500 metres from The New Art Gallery.
When is it open…?
The New Art Gallery Walsall is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm and 11am to 4pm on Sunday. The gallery is closed on Mondays, but is open on Bank Holidays from 10am to 5pm.
What about disability access?
The New Art Gallery Walsall has Lift access to all floors and disabled parking adjacent to the gallery via Marsh Street.
