During 2008 the Herbert’s £20M physical transformation will be completed with the opening of new temporary exhibition galleries, a new History Centre, new visual arts, natural history and history exhibitions, a new Studio space for performance and events and new activity and meetings spaces.
The first phase of the redevelopment is already open and includes creative media studios, an exhibition space, education facilities, a café and shop and during the year the stunning new wing of the building facing Coventry Cathedral and University Square will be opened together with the refurbished galleries in the original building. Keep an eye on the website for details.
Anything else…?
The Herbert offers a range of facilities including a café and shop, accessible toilets, baby changing and family activity tables.
Can I take my camera…?
You may take photographs if you asked at the Reception Desk where you will be asked to sign a copyright declaration form.
How do I get there…?
By Train
- Exit Coventry Train Station through double doors
- Turn right onto Park Road
- Take the first left onto Manor Road
- Continue on the right hand side of the road until you meet a footbridge
- Continue over the footbridge, crossing the ring road and then continue straight on, on Friars Road
- Turn right onto New Union Street, and then take the first left onto Little Park Street
- You will see the Council house ahead of you and a set of traffic lights
- Turn right at the lights, onto Jordan Well and continue on the left hand side of the road where you will see The Herbert on your left
By Coach/Bus
- Exit the bus station, turning left onto Fairfax Street
- Cross the road at the traffic lights
- Turn right onto Priory Street, past the Students Union of Coventry University (on your left) and the
- Cathedral (on your right)
- Turn left at the end of the road onto Bayley Lane
- Take the next left onto Jordan Well and continue on the left hand side of the road where you will see The Herbert on your left

When is it open…?
The opening times for The Herbert are as follows:
Monday – Saturday: 10am – 5.30pm
Sunday: 12pm – 5.30pm
Please check the website for any changes to these times made necessary by building work taking place on site www.theherbert.org
